Fuji Mountain and Hakone 2015/3/13 23:04
Dear All,

I am planning a trip to Japan coming October with my family and I wish to get some advise in moving around in Japan even I have traveled there before myself. I'm thinking of a day trip to Fuji Mountain (or even spend one night there) then visit Hakone.

I would like to know what is the best way from Shinjuku / Shibuya area down to Fuji and it is possible to visit Hakone when we returning back to Tokyo from Fuji.

Thank you

I assume you refer to the Fuji Five Lake area when referring to "Fuji Mountain".

Transportation between Tokyo and the Fuji Five Lakes is explained here:

Transportation between Tokyo and Hakone here:

And transportation between Hakone and Mount Fuji here:

You need at least two days if you visit both Hakone and the Fuji Five Lakes. In that case, an overnight stay in Hakone or Fuji Five Lakes is recommended over visiting in two daytrips.

If you do so, the Fuji Hakone Pass could be a pass worth considering:

Dear Uji,

Thanks for your reply and recommendation. I'm planning to stay overnight at Fuji area and I'm now looking at some accommodation options that I have for 9 persons.

Thank you,
Derrick
