After completing some research - I've found an interesting island off Wakayama City called Tomogashima Island.

Has anyone been here? It looks interesting and it seems like a great place to spend a night away from the rat race..... Specifically since it used to be a World War 1 Battle encampment....

I tried to go there in December but the ferries from Kada are few and far between (only on weekends and only one per day). It was disappointing to say the least! I actually just posted a question asking if they're more frequent in Spring. Great minds think alike!

To the best of my knowledge, the ferry schedule is only 1 or 2 a day in the off season. It's more during the summer season (I think 4 or 5 times a day).
