You can take a train directly from Osaka Station to Himeji Station. It takes about 1 hour and costs approximately 1500 Yen.
Or you can take the bullet train (Shinkansen) from Shin-Osaka station. It takes about 30 minutes and costs about 3800 Yen.
A train from Osaka station to Shin-Osaka station only takes 4 minutes and costs 160 Yen.
What would a cab cost?
Probably quite a lot of money. Driving from Osaka to Himeji Castle would take about 1 1/2 hours.
2. How to get from Kyoto sandasen station to nijo castle? Would cab be best?
I'm not sure what station you mean in Kyoto. There is no sandasen station. What station do you mean?
As for Nijo Castle the closest station is Nijojomae on the Tozai subway line. The next closest stations are Nijo on the Tozai subway line and Nijo on the JR Sagano Line.
If you are coming from Kyoto Station, taking the JR line would be the fastest.
