24hrs in Nikko with less mobile seniors

We are visiting Japan in a couple of weeks with my elderly mother (over 80) and her friend. We are thinking about a night in Nikko. Can someone recommend some easy to visit sites, without too much walking, please?
Any guidance as to getting around would also be much appreciated. This trip we are planning on using taxis as much as practicable to keep the walking to a minimum.
They can handle busses - if there is a shuttle and a certain amount of walking.
This trip will be at a different pace than usual & we are aiming to see a few key, memorable sites rather than cram a lot in.
