5 Days in Tokyo 2015/5/14 15:26
Hello hi :)
My name is Mr. Adil from Malaysia. My family and i planning to visit Tokyo,Japan during the end of Augustf15, for a period of about 5 days. The number of persons visiting is (11+5) that is 5 couples with 5 children. We will stay in Chiyoda area, 10 minute walk to Takebashi station. Since this is our first visit to Japan, if you can help us with some travel guide, that would be highly appreciable.

My detail as follow;

Arrival : 29/August - 9am (Narita)
Departure : 3/Sept - 9am (Narita)
Number of Guest : 11 adult and 5 kids (below 4 years old)

My itinerary
Day 1: (Narita) - (Chiyoda) - (Nippori) window shopping
Day 2: (Shibuya) shibuya crossing, takeshita dori, tackle shop - (Harajuku) yoyogi park, sakaeya kimono, camii mosque - (Shinjuku) shinjuku gyoen garden for tea ceremony
Day 3: (Asakusa) nakamise street, sensoji temple, hanayashiki- (Ueno) hrc, ueno zoo, shitamashi muzeum, ameyoko - (Akihabara)
Day 4: (Mahima)Disneyland - (Odaiba) decks, aqua city
Day 5 : Free & easy
Day 6 : (chiyoda) - (narita)

My question:
1) Could you guys check if my itinerary is doable with large group?
2) Which train ticket do i have to purchase? Tokyo Metropolitan District Pass or Tokyo metro 2 day pass.
3) Can i go fishing near pier or river around sumida/chiyoda area.

Many thanks :)

You probably need a whole day at Disney so odaiba is not possible

Yes a large group can do what you mentioned. Don't see the problem.

There's no need to get any train pass. Unless your hotel is far away from the sites.

Do note that the climate would be hot. With downpours.

It certainly can be done.
But first, how are you getting into Tokyo? The Keisei+Metro package might save you some money:

Or there is the 1000 yen bus:

Since you have one open day, why not get out of Tokyo and see some of Japan? Not all of Japan is Tokyo, by any means. Take a day trip to Hakone, Nikko, or Kamakura/Enoshima. There are cheap day passes for all three places.

Sensoji is almost carved in stone for every visitor, although it is well worth seeing:

but you didn't include any kind of city view in your plans. The Sky Tree is the obvious choice and close by, but it is pricey and if that is an issue, there is always Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Tower, or even the Shinjuku Metro Gov't Bldg which is free.
The Tsukiji Fish Market means getting up very early in the morning, but it really shows the Japanese at their hard working best:

Hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Well, i guess it depends on the person. I have no love for panoromic views of a city. If atop a mountain then I am game.

Also, Meiji Shrine IMO is a more calming experience after all that traveling around bustling cities. As compared to Sensoji, probably the busiest temple around.

@JH, Thanks for the heads up. We will bring along bottle water and umbrella. Actually Meiji Shrine is in our plan but other ppl in our group have another arrangement so we have to tag along with them :)

@ken. we are planning to get to Takebashi by (Narita sky access -nihonbashi-takebashi), but since we are no hurry perhaps we will try bus instead... Thank you for your recommendation. Kamakura/Enoshima sound interesting, any interesting place beside beach that we can explore? I think we will go to Shinjuku Metro Gov't Bldg for city viewing.

Another question,
1) Our return flight is on 9 am, so we have to check in before 7am. I've check in google map the timetable for train to narita start at 5am, but would it be crowded? Any suggestion?

2)As for the train pass, i don't want i que up to buy the ticket, since we are a large group is it advisable to get an ic card pasmo/suica?

Re: 5 Days in Tokyo 2015/5/16 12:07
There are far more places to enjoy in Kamakura than just the beaches! Have a look at the general page on the area:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2166.html
It has some fantastic temples, as well as hiking.
As for leaving Tokyo, you will find very few people trying to get out of the city at 5-6AM. More are trying to come in. You should not be late, but you should be able to get to Narita without a problem.
About the ic card, you can get one and it is more convenient, but there is no discount or savings from it. You might consider a 3 day subway pass for example:
http://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/value/travel/index.html#anc03
It is quite easy to recoup the costs by just going to a few places a day.
