Scienic railways Fukuoka, Tottori 2015/5/28 21:28
Hi,
The railway from Meinohama to Nishikaratsu and Matsue to Tottori (just some examples) are passing the north coast of Japan (Kyushu and Chugoku).

Anyone travelled these parts? Are they as scienic as I expect or just like any random railroad?

I remember the ride between Izumo and Odashi being really beautiful. You pass Lake Shinji between Izumo and Matsue.

Some of the Chikuhi Line from Meinohama to Karatsu is quite scenic, and right beside the ocean. Getting a right hand window seat and good weather for the day would be ideal.
There are a few good places to see around Meinohama if you have time. Nokonoshima makes a great day trip and the Island Park has a gorgeous flower park and scenery:

Also the view from Atago Jinja gives a great view over the bay and city, and it is all free:

Also the sunset over Odo Park just NW of Meinohama is very relaxing and picturesque:

Thank you so much for your replies.

Looks like I could spend weeks just in Fukuoka prefecture alone :)
