Where to stay in Kyoto? 2015/5/30 04:27
Hi All,

My wife and I will be spending our Honeymoon in Japan for 21 days. We plan to be in Kyoto from August 16-19 to enjoy the Daimonji Fire Festival as well as explore all that Kyoto has to offer. We would like to stay in an area that would be convenient to visit the areas suggested by full day itineraries below, as well as getting a good view of the mountains for the fire festival.

Aug 16th: Check in to Hotel (don't know where to explore yet)
Aug 17th: Do one of the full day suggested itineraries.

Aug 18th: Do the other full day suggested itinerary.

Aug 19th: Check out and head back to Tokyo

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello,

I and my friends did the same itineraries in Kyoto in April this year.
I recommended you to stay nearby Kawaramachi station. From there, you easily go to attractions by bus.

Have a nice trip!

We plan to be in Kyoto from August 16-19

Look for one near the transport hub.
I would highly recommend Hotel Granvia Kyoto :

I find staying near Kyoto station is most convenient, so you have easy access to the trains and buses you need.

Thank you everyone! I have booked the Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto right by Kyoto Tower. This will be easy for us for getting in, out and around Kyoto.

@koohii2wii thank you for the tip! We don't plan on spending much time there so location and price is priority. Do you happen to know if they allow luggage storage before and after check in?

If they don't, the basement floor of Kyoto station has a baggage storage room, which is great for suitcases too big to fit in most lockers.
