This July we togetherr with my husband and my 6-month daughter plan to visit Hokkaido for a 4 days. AsI heard that it is a lot of bears, I started to worry is it safe to go there with baby. Does anybody know which trails and sightseeing spots are more safe at the area of Akan national park and shiretoko national park? What is advisory to do to make this trip as safe as possible

Hi, I'm Sho from Japan. Don't worry about it. I've been to Hokkaido many times, but I've never seen a bea‚’ not once. But I can't completely say 100% safety. So you should take care, and have a nice trip.

It's true there are quite a few bears in Hokkaido - but the National Parks are quite reactive when they are spotted by one walker.
Once when I was in Kushiro, the walking track was closed because a bear was spotted the previous day.
