Kansai Airport to Kanazawa

Hi,
Asking for some advise on how to get from Kansai Airport to Kanazawa smoothest.
I suppose there are no direct flights to Kanazawa (Komatsu) airport?
I will have a JR pass as I will travel very long after Kanazawa visit, in case that helps.

1) Take the Haruka limited express from Kansai Airport to Shin-Osaka Station 2) Take the Thunderbird limited express from Shin-Osaka to Kanazawa I recommend to make seat reservations after arrival in Shin-Osaka. There is at least one connection per hour. Here you can look up actual connections: http://www.hyperdia.com/

Wouldnt it be better to reserve while in Kansai airport than Shin Osaka?
Is it often being booked out?

It is more often not booked out. But since you board the Thunderbird at Shin-Osaka rather than its first station, Osaka, I think it provides peace of mind to have a seat reservation for the Thunderbird.
