Reservation for Kurobe Gorge railway in Nov.?

We arrive in Osaka on November 1 and have Kurobe Gorge railway on the to-do list.

We are planning to make a day trip from Kanazawan to ride the Kurobe Gorge Railway on Wednesday, November 4. The schedule is tight and I am worried about the availability of tickets on the Kurobe Gorge train.

We are hoping to get on the Kurobe train departing Unazaki at 10:43 and return on the 13:53 train from Keyakidaira. We do not have reservations.

Is this a good idea to go without reservations?

The possibility of not getting the tixs for that particular departure is always there. In your situation, reserving the tixs in advance would be a wise move.

We ended up riding the Kurobe Gorge Railway on Wednesday, November 4. Departed Kanazawa on the 8:20 Shinkansen arriving at Unazukionsen at 9:57. Walked quickly to the Unazuki Station and managed to buy tickets and get on the 10:03 departure instead of the 10:43. Autumn colors were at their peak. It was a wonderful experience (far better than the Sagano Scenic Train).
