Hakone Freepass 3day for 4 days

Hi,

I would like some advise on my trip to Hakone for this December.

We will be coming from Shinjuku and intend to purchase the 3-days Hakone freepass plus romance car (1 way) to get to Hakone Yumoto station. I am arriving on 11 Dec which is the day I buy the pass.

However, I am planning to stay 3 nights at Hakone, which means my freepass will expire on 13 Dec. Does that mean that I will then have to pay for my own trip back from Hakone Yumoto station back to Shinjuku on 14 Dec? What will be cheapest way back then? Or is there any other tips I can use to maximise my stay and freepass in Hakone?

Nothing you can do.
Either take the pass that includes travel to/fro Shinjuku or don't.
Taking the bus is the cheapest way.
