Because I am just staying there one night as a stepping stone to Daisetsuzan, I am looking for a budget accomodation in Asahikawa.
It seems the YH has closed, is that right?
All I can find in english on the web are expensive hotels (8000 yens minimum).
Do you know a nice & cheap place to stay?
Thank you!

Not sure what you consider cheap, but I would consider 8,000 fairly inexpensive for Japan. Here are some that are a little below 8,000: Hotel Paco Asahikawa (7,350) http://www.paco.co.jp/asahikawa/guestroom.htmlAsahikawa Terminal Hotel (4,000-5,500) http://www.asahikawa-th.com/contents/intl/english/plan.htmToyoko Inn Asahikawa Ekimae Miyashita-dori (5,980) http://www.toyoko-inn.com/e_hotel/00173/index.htmlToyoko Inn Asahikawa Ekimae Ichijo-dori (4,980) http://www.toyoko-inn.com/e_hotel/00069/index.htmlHotel Kanda (2,980 - capsule; 3,980 - single room) http://www.hotelkanda.jp/Hotel Resol Asahikawa (6,500) http://www.resol-asahikawa.com/plan/index.htmlFujita Kanko Washington Hotel Asahikawa (6,090) http://www.wh-rsv.com/english/asahikawa/index.htmlThose are just a few. Of course, what time of year you are going plus day of the week dictates the final cost. Some of the above sites are in Japanese, however, the links take you to the relevant pages. Good luck!
