Small dog to Ogasawara Islands?

I live in Tokyo and I'm planning to visit Ogasawara Islands by ferry. Does anybody know if I am allowed to bring my small dog with me on the trip?

From what I can read off from blogs on the internet, yes, you can travel with your dog to Ogasawara.
- You will need to buy a ticket for your dog on the ferry, and once on the ferry you need to take your dog to the "pet room" for the dog to be kept in a cage (you cannot take your dog into your cabin - you can take your dog on a leash to the deck).
- Be sure to book a hotel that allows pets.
