I plan to travel to Japan in mid-Oct and do a 5 days hike in Minami Alps, what the weather like about that time of the year in the alps and where can I find more information on the route? I've read some post about the hike but can't find any details on the hiking route.

Where in the Minami Alps? There are many peaks and hiking trails. Lonely Planet Hiking in Japan has a little bit of information on the Minami Alps.

The hiking season generally is from July to mid October. After that it snows.
