Asahidake Onsen - free bus ride 2011/7/16 17:01
Hi Forum,

Lonely Planet mentioned that a bus ride from Asahidake-Onsen back to Asahikawa is for free, if you spent more than 2.000 Yen in Asahidake-Onsen. With your receipts you shall go to the Info-desk of the ropeway station and the staff hand over a kind of coupon for free bus transportation. Is that right? Whatfs the name of this eCouponf?

Thank you very much

This "free bus" has been long abolished. About 5 years ago. Here is the up-to-date access information:

As a matter of fact, the most recent changes to the bus access situation was made just very recently on July 15 (the bus newly also serves Asahikawa Airport along the way). The new timetable is supposed to remain in effect around the year.

Thank you very much for your additional advices Uji. I suppose that the departure times at http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6776.html are up to date. But whatfs about the previous stops like Michikusa kan mae, Tenninkyo Onsen, etc? Were they abolished? Maybe you have a link to a Japanese Website for me, which show the changes? Nevertheless Uji, thanks for your Information. I appreciate your advises.

Am I right?

Although it is not stated explicitly, the following official press release suggests that service to Tenninkyo has been discontinued:

I just read it in whole, and it is actually explicitly stated that service to Tenninkyo has been discontinued as of July 15.
