Hi, We're planning our first trip to Japan
It's our honeymoon actually, Here's our initial (very sketchy) trip plan
Your comments and recommendations would be much appreciated:
Osaka - arrival Nov 9 2011
Koyasan Nov 10 2011
Nara Nov 11-12 2011
Kyoto Nov 13-18 2011
JR pass (1 week) activation
Hakone Nov 19-20 open air museum, kowakien-onsen, tozan train trip

I recommend to stay overnight at a temple on Koyasan rather than visiting it in a daytrip.
Where do you depart from? Tokyo? Osaka? If you depart from Osaka, I personally would go to Tokyo first and Kyoto afterwards, because the peak of the autumn color season in Kyoto is likely to take place during the second half of your visit. If you depart from Tokyo, note that a Japan Rail Pass will not pay off.
