Kyoto and Nara 2011/10/26 00:44
Hi,

In December I will be in Kyoto and Nara visiting several temples and shrines in Central, Eastern and Southern Kyoto. What is the best way to travel around in Kyoto? Would I be better of geting a Kansai Thru pass?

Thanks

If you plan your days "geographically wise", you can walk in between a lot of the sights. For longer distances, I recommend the subway, trains, buses and taxis. Renting a bicycle to get around is also quite popular. Here are some more details (see second part of the page):

If you just travel around Kyoto and Nara, then a Kansai Thru Pass is unlikely to pay off.
