Ski trip to Tokyo Dec 9 - Dec 16, 2011

Dear all,
I plan to take my family to Tokyo(first trip ever!) between Dec 9 to Dec 16(unfortunately this is the only time available). I plan to take them to skiing near Tokyo, preferably within 2-hour drive, but I wonder if I'll be able to do so because I was told there could be little snow by then.
However, I see some ski resorts will open to public by end of November. It would be highly appreciated if you could feedback on this.
Thank you! Chris

Yes, some of them open on Dec 1. It depends on how much snow fall they have till then but should be OK by around Dec 10th at least. The below is one of the ski resorts near Tokyo.
If you drive, it takes about or a little more than three hours from Tokyo area. I would suggest you take a bullet train and a free shuttle to the resort with less hours.
This one is recommended from my past experiences especially for small kids.
