WiFi in Shinjuku

Just wondering does WiFi exist in Shinjuku? I'm from UK and I'm hoping to use Google Translate throughout my visit to Tokyo if I'm ever stuck with communication, and to also keep in touch with friends and family at home. I will be going for one week and I'll be staying at Washington Hotel in Shinjuku. If WiFi does not exist, what options do I have other than taking out a contract with softbank? Rather avoid this option as I'll only be around Japan for 6 days! Many thanks James

James your best bet is to rent a mobile wifi device from the airport. They come in many formats, you can rent a mobile hotspot if you have something like an ipad netbook etc, you can connect up to five devices with one mobile hotspot. "Pocket Wifi" If you just have a netbook or laptop you can also rent a USB wifi device as well. Both exist as options to rent from the airport. http://www.globaladvancedcomm.com/

Thanks for your answer, but I have more questions:
- is the link you sent the same company in Japan as the site looks like it's for the American market? - where abouts in the airport will I find this WiFi contract section? I will be arriving at Narita. - do any cellphone companies in Japan provide PayAsYouGo simcards like they do in the UK or do they only sell contracts
Many thanks!

That particular company is a reputable company that is owned by a foreigner in Japan, so service is generally very good and their English is good if you wish to communicate with them. You don't have to take my word but a search on other japan related forums as well. Everything you need to know is here on how to order, pick up etc: http://www.globaladvancedcomm.com/faq.htmlOther companies inside Narita Airport offer similar services as well: http://www.softbank-rental.jp/en/phones/wifi.php
