Seishun 18

I have a question. I want to travel in Japan with my friend with an Seishun 18 Pass. We want to travel in March (and April). At http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/seishun18.html we only can see the periods Summer and Winter. In the Lonely Planet guide they talk about the period Spring. Can you tell us please if the period Spring will be available in 2012? And if yes is it possible to buy the pass in advance?

The seishun 18 kippu has spring, summer, and winter periods. The Spring 2012 seishun 18 kippu runs from March 1 to April 10, and you can purchase it from February 20 to March 31. See more info on this page:

Btw, the page you linked only has 2011 dates, so that's probably why the 2012 spring period isn't listed.

New season "18" info update around 10 Feb every year.


BTW, I dont know where to go,
18 rules are "not easy" even as Japan travelers.

- take a long time (slower train only)
- a lot of transfer (long way)
- out of Big city running few
- night train very few (ML-Nagara/Echigo/Shinsyu only. not everyday)

I bet you can purchase and use from March 1st to 30th March and only use until 10th April.

And Im afraid 2 say that U can buy em only in Japan.
