How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? 2012/2/25 02:35
How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? If we'll ride a Shinkansen (Bullet Train)?
Because we're an avid fan of anime One Piece.
We wanna go there! Well actually I think it's located at "Hues Ten Bosch"

Your options and associated costs of travel to Fukuoka are explained here:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4802.html

For Nagasaki here:
http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4410.html

The One Piece attractions are located in the Huis Ten Bosh amusement park, which can be easily reached from Fukuoka or Nagasaki Airport as explained here:

Thank You so much! But how much is the fare from TOKYO by Shinkansen to Huis Ten Bosch up? How much is your "estimated" fare?
Because we have plan to go in Japan, not now, but next year maybe. So that we already know what to do and how we'll be able to get there from Tokyo. We're from the Philippines, we really love the anime One Piece(ƒƒ“ƒs[ƒX).

this link where the Thousand Sunny(One Piece) located
http://www.huistenbosch.co.jp/onepiece/hall.html

as the link you gave me..
http://english.huistenbosch.co.jp/access_maps/index.html

"By Train:
Approximately 4 hours 10 minutes
JR Shin-Osaka Station¨ (Shinkansen approx. 2 hr. 30 min.)¨JR Hakata Station¨(J.R. Limited Express gHuis Ten Boschh approx. 1 hr. 40 min.)¨Huis Ten Bosch"

Is it really 4hours? :-)
We really need the estimated fare for Shinkansen "Seat Classes - (Ordinary)"¨ http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2018.html
so that for us to save large amounts before we can go there.

Thank you...

According to Hyperdia http://www.hyperdia.com/en/ the fare from Tokyo station to Huis Ten Bosch station is 25,150 yen, on a Nozomi train with reserved seats.

Taking a plane will most likely be cheaper and faster.

Try searching the route with Hyperdia: http://www.hyperdia.com/en it's a handy site that will tell you how much the trip will cost, how long it'll take, where you need to transfer, etc.

Re: How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? 2012/2/25 20:55
Example of routes found by Hyperdia:

The base fare is the same if the station in Tokyo is among ones located in Tokyo 23 city wards (e.g. Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara),
but you can take a Tokaido Shinkansen train only from Tokyo or Shinagawa.
If you take the same route on the way back, the fare for a round trip gets discounted by 2920 yen, as long as it's duration is within 16 calendar days.

JR companies will revise diagrams in the coming March, which will become effective on 17 March 2012.
As for now, Hyperdia does not reflect the revision.
If you don't use a Japan Rail Pass, check "NOZOMI / MIZUHO / HAYABUSA (SHINKANSEN)" and try again.

Re: How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? 2012/2/25 23:25
I am planning on going to Japan in April, and planning to go to Huis Ten Bosh. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex are of Texas. Instead of getting a round trip ticket to and from Tokyo, I am getting a mutli city ticker that will fly from DFW to FUK (Fukuoka) in Kyushu to start with. I plan to spend several days in Kyushu, including Huis Ten Bosh, Nagasaki, and Beppu, using a northern Kyushu rail pass. I will then use a JR rail pass to travel through Hiroshima, Osaka, and Kyoto, to go to Tokyo. I will be flying home from NRT (Narita) back to DFW.

The extra cost for arriving in Kukuoka was about $60 american dollars, which I consider money well spent. The three day northern Kyushu Pass is only $90 american, and much less than the cost of "all japan" JR rail pass that I will use to get back to Tokyo.

I have no idea how long you plan to stay in Japan, so I don't know if an itenary like mine will work for you.

Good luck.

Omotenashi,

JR companies will revise diagrams in the coming March, which will become effective on 17 March 2012.
As for now, Hyperdia does not reflect the revision.

I'll be in Japan and using the JR Pass from 3/8 to 3/21. I have been planning my itineraries down to the date and time of the trains. How extensive will the changes be? And when can I know the timetables shown on Hyperdia will be correct for the date in question? Will this only affect trains after the 17th?

How extensive will the changes be?

They will be minor. I think you shouldN7t be worried.

And when can I know the timetables shown on Hyperdia will be correct for the date in question?

In the past Hyperdia has been rather slow in updating its English version. I remember when the new Skyliner was introduced, they did not have the correct timetables until after the train's inauguration. I think it was similarly bad with the spring 2010 timetable revision. Hyperdia's Japanese version and Jorudan have usually been updated faster. Hyperdia mentions at the bottom of the page on which data the results are based on. For results after March 17 to be accurate, I think it should be stating "JR timetable data is provided by KOTSUSHINBUNSHA. This data has been based on March 2012 edition".

As for now, neither Jorudan nor Hyperdia have been updated. But it was just yesterday that the March timetable was released, so, I think that we will see at least Jorudan to be updated quite soon.

Here is one way to check based on an arbitrarily picked departure time that will be changing:

The Mizuho 603 departs Shin-Osaka for Kagoshima-Chuo at 7:50 before the timetable revision, but the departure time will be changed to 7:53 after the timetable revision. Check for a day before March 17 and for one after and you will see whether the website has been updated or not.

Will this only affect trains after the 17th?

The revised timetables will become effective on March 17.

How much is the fare it we'll take a plane from Tokyo to Huis Ten Bosch theme park?

It depends on the airline, how far in advance you book your flight and the time the flight is at. For example, right now it's possible to book a Skymark flight for the 18th April at 6.20am from Haneda to Fukuoka for 7,800 yen. Then travelling to Huis Ten Bosch station by train would cost you another 3,820 yen on the fastest route.

Checking out the Skymark website may be useful: http://www.skymark.jp/en/

Re: March revisions of railroad diagrams 2012/2/26 09:52
John: How extensive will the changes be?

To John and taurusTippy -- I suppose departure / arrival of some trains might become earlier or later by a few to 20 minutes; so if you have expected minimum time for transfers between trains, please check whether your timetables for 17 March and later need to be modified. You can ask in a new thread to estimate how the revisions may affect your itinerary. : http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quenew.html

Details of revisions concerning express trains are announced a bit earlier. JR-East has already uploaded new timetables for its Shinkansen and Narita Express trains and also Tokaido Shinkansen trains (of JR-Central) which are to run in the JR-East area in Kanto Region.

Judging from preliminary announcements of outlines by five JR passenger railroad companies (excluding JR-Hokkaido), the March 2012 revisions sound to me, so to say, sets of minor changes.
Major changes tend to take a chance of a March revision of diagrams. Kyushu Shinkansen network was practically completed by the 12 March 2011 revision. From Tokaido Shinkansen operation, trains of Series 300, which made debut in the March 1992 revision, will retire with the March 2012 revision taking effect.

How about ferries? from Tokyo to Fukuoka then straight to Huis Ten Bosch?

Thank you for your information. Soon we hope that we'll be able to go to Japan... ^_^

Re: How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? 2012/2/27 20:01
I don't know about any ferries from Tokyo to Fukuoka, but there is one from Tokyo to Kitakyushu with more info here: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2355_01.html#f08. It seems you'd have to take a taxi from the port to the nearest train station, and from there to HTB station it would be another 6,730 yen with reserved seats.

There's another ferry route from Tokyo to Shibushi, but travelling from Shibushi to HTS would take a very long time and cost over 16,000 yen.

I still think flying is your best and cheapest bet.

Re: How much is the fare from Tokyo to Kyushu? 2012/2/28 05:39
According to Hyperdia, the total train fare from Tokyo to Huis Ten Bosch is 25,360 yen, including reserved seats. The one week JR pass is 28,300, which will get you there and back, and allow for side trips to other locations in Japan.

The bullet train trip now passes through Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, before ending in Hakata. The bullet trains are broken into sections and you will have to use two bullet trains to get all the way to Hakata.

There is a limited express from Hakata to Huis Ten Bosch to finish the journey, which is also covered by the JR rail pass.
