Visit to Kyoto/Osaka

Hello everyone,

1. I am planning for a 3 days/2nights sight seeing trip to osaka/kyoto along with my parents. Could someone please tell what all places are worth the see during Golden week.
2. Where do I find details of places to stay in kyoto/osaka which are comforatble and affordable.
3. Is there a concept of Home stay (where we can stay along with the local people in a Japanese type house) in this area.

When researching what accommodation to stay at I usually use a combination of

http://www.jalan.net
http://www.rakuten.co.jp
http://www.agoda.com
And then read some of the tripadvisor.com posts. I also usually check the actual website if one is available.

3. Is there a concept of Home stay (where we can stay along with the local people in a Japanese type house) in this area.

Probably not easy to find for a family for a short stay.
