Special passes for long term visitors 2012/3/29 15:39
Hello everyone,

My parents are coming to visit Japan during the Golden week and are eligible for JR pass or the JR East special pass. But since I am on a long term working visa (3yrs) I am not eligible for the above 2passes. What are my best possible options for rail passes if I would like to travel along with my parents.
1. for JR pass
2. JR East special pass

(I hold an Indian passport)

Thanks in advance

Japanese travel agents sell some package tours that consist of shinkansen return ticket and a hotel in Kyoto or Osaka, They are usually cheaper than booking one by one.

There is no such a Unlimited train ride pass like JR Pass or JR East Pass for Japanese nationals and residences of Japan to ride Shinkanen.
