Haru Basho 2025 - Day 15
Kitakachiyama emerged victorious in the big yusho decider. This is his fifth Makuuchi yusho. Congratulations. | Hakumadashi won his match against Hironoumi to be one of four players with 10-5 records. His superior scoring ensured he won the yusho on a tie-break. This is his first ever yusho! Congratulations again! | Fujislava had already won the Makushita yusho but he finished in style with a strong win to go 14-1. | Ozeki Kakushoyamaii had a fine tournament again, finishing 11-4 and gaining a second straight jun yusho. In May he'll have another chance for Yokozuna promotion if he can manage another strong performance. | Well done to all the winners! Thanks for playing and see you back here in May!

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 14
Both leaders lost today and they meet tomorrow to decide the yusho winner. No need to worry about scoring...it's simply a winner-takes-all bout! | It's a similar story in Juryo. Hironoumi is ahead by one win but he fights Hakumadashi tomorrow, who is one win behind but with a far superior score. A win for either player will decide the champion. | And Makushita is already over! Congratulations to newcomer Fujislava, who has an excellent 13-1 record and cannot be caught! Go for 14! | Good luck to all the contenders.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 13
The tournament has been dominated by Kitakachiyama and Ganzohneshi in terms of win-loss records and scoring. One of them will win it and, as expected, they will meet in a death match on the final day. They are even in scoring so today will be a good chance for them to try and gain a slight advantage for a possible tie-break. Ozeki Kakushoyamaii and Komusui Reeeen have excelled also with nine wins apiece. However the Ozeki, along with Sekiwake Kiriazuma, will have to wait until next tournament before resuming their big promotion pushes. | In Juryo we are back to Hironoumi and Hakumadashi. And Fujislava still leads Makushita with 12 wins. Kajiyanosho is one win behind and hoping for a slip-up by the leader.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 12
The two leaders won and both are now two wins clear of the field. They have not yet fought each other and don't tomorrow but a death match between the two seems on the cards at some point. Ozeki Kakushoyamaii secured kachi koshi today but an 11-win yusho is looking unlikely with the two leaders so far ahead with three days remaining. Sekiwake Kiriazuma now has to win out to gain ozeki promotion. | The Juryo leader board has been very topsy turvy and we are back to four leaders, all with 8-4 records. Who will break free for glory? And newcomer Fujislava is one win clear at the top of the Makushita division.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 11
Ganzohnesushi walked into a very strong line-up from Komusubi Chiyobobdog and lost. One of his rivals, Kitakachiyama, took advantage and is now joint leader with nine wins. They have similar scores and have not yet met on the virtual dohyo so plenty can still happen. Sekiwake Kiriazuma and Reeeen and one win behind. | Hironoumi and Hakumadashi now lead Juryo after picking up kachikoshi today. Ookaminoyama and Fujislava head Makushita with ten wins.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 10
Ganzohnesushi picked up another win and is now 9-1. Sekiwake Kiriazuma and Kitakachiyama are one win behind. | Tragikomy, Hironoumi, Hakumadashi and Miyabiko now lead Juryo...still no winning records so far, which is unusual. Bunbukuchagama, Ookaminoyama and Fujislava all lead Makushita with nine wins.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 9
Ganzohnesushi returned to winning ways to get his kachikoshi. He remains one win ahead of Sekiwake Kiriazuma and Kitakachiyama. Kiriazuma needs four wins out of six four ozeki promotion. | Tragikomy and Hakumadashi now lead Juryo with seven wins, one ahead of a field of four. Makushita now has five leaders, all celebrating early winning records today.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 8
Ganzohnesushi has had an excellent week and was today going for the extremely rare feat of getting a winning record secured on day 8, but he suffered a very unlucky loss to fall to 7-1. He retains the sole lead, but unlike yesterday, when he had a two-win cushion, it's back to piranha bum-biting as six players are waiting for him to slip up. That group of six includes Ozeki Kakushoyamaii and Sekiwake Kiriazuma, both of whom are looking for promotions to the very elite ranks. | Tragikomy leads Juryo with a 7-1 record. And five players lead Makushita, also with seven wins apiece. So no unbeaten players left.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 4
Only day four and we already have a sole leader. Former Sekiwake Ganzohneshushi leads the field with a huge number of piranhas waiting to bite his bum if he loses. He'll be hoping for two kinboshi in two days when he takes on Pandaazuma tomorrow. | No unbeaten players left in Juryo. Six players lead. And six players remain unbeaten in Makushita, including the eternally meowing Nekotaikai.

Haru Basho 2025 - Day 2
Welcome all to the Haru Basho! We have all-time high 212 players participating this time. Thanks to all the players for joining in. | Ozeki Kakushoyamaii is on a yokozuna run after his 10-5 showing in January. Twelve wins would be enough for promotion, but eleven wins and a yusho might be enough too. Sekiwake Kiriazuma (a former yokozuna himself) is looking for ozeki promotion. 11 wins is the target. Both hopefuls are off to promising 2-0 starts. | Good luck to all the players!
