Aki Basho 2024 - Day 15
Kitakachiyama had a bad day. He was easily defeated by Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii while Ganzohnesushi won his bout. This led to a tie-breaker between the two. Their scores are the same so it comes down to their direct bout on day 7, which was won by Ganzohnesushi. This is third Makuuchi yusho.
Juryo was even closer! Joaozan and Mananoyama won their bouts and finished with 11-4 records. They also have the same score but did not meet each other this tournament. And so we go to the most 8+ days. Mananoyama has 6 compared to Joaozan's 4 so the yusho goes to Mananoyama.
Makushita also required a tie-breaker. Wakudoyama and Kamibakka finished with 13-2 records but Wakudoyama wins by one point in the scoring.
Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii came through very well from 7-5 to 10-5 against strong opponents and now has 31 wins in three tournaments. He is now eligible for an ozeki re-promotion.
Congratulations to all the winners!

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 14
Of the three leaders, only Kitakachiyama managed a win and he is now in pole position for yusho. However, he will need to beat the ozeki hopeful Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii in a death match. Kitakachiyama needs to be careful as a loss would allow his three pursuers into a tie-break if they win and his scoring is not out of any of those players' reach. Kakushoyamaii will have enough wins for ozeki promotion if he wins tomorrow.
The three Juryo leaders are Saruwataritwo, Mananoyama and Joaozan. None of them are fighting each other so if all lose, the way could open for players who are one win off the pace.
In Makushita Wakudoyama lost and is now leading with Kamibakka. They have identical scores and don't fight each other so, as in Juryo, the yusho is open to someone a win behind.
Good luck to all the contenders!

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 13
Three of the leaders won. Kiriazuma, Ganzohneshushi and Kitakachiyama all now have ten wins.
In Juryo Sagi lost so Mananoyama is now the leader with nine. Wakudoyama keeps up the fine work in Makushita to stay in the lead.

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 12
Kitakakachiyama lost and this allowed three chasers to join him on the leaderboard with 9-3 records. Ozeki Pandaazuma, Kiriazuma and Ganzohnesushi are hoping to keep the wins coming.
Mananoyama and Sagi lead Juryo with 8 wins. And Wakudoyama is all alone in the lead in Makushita with 11 wins.
Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii now needs to win all his remaining bouts for ozeki promotion and will have to face the current ozeki and yokozuna along with a sekiwake.

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 10
Kitakachiyama lost and this allowed a victorious Kiriazuma to join him at the top of the leaderboard with 8-2 records.
Juryo whittled down quite a bit today. Mananoyama and Ahogeyama are now leading with seven wins. In Makushita Bolo finally recorded his first loss and he is now in a leading group of five players.

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 9
Kitakachiyama won again to retain sole lead from Andonishiki and Kiriazuma. It's a day-nine kachikoshi for him.
Juryo is very open with six players leading with 6-3 records. And in Makushita, Bolo is our last remaining unbeaten player.
Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii is still going strong on his ozeki run. He now has a 6-3 record and needs four more wins from the remaining six days.
by Pandaazuma, 2024/9/16

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 7
Former Sekiwake Kitakachiyama was the only unbeaten Makuuchi player until today, when he lost his bout and fell into a leading group of three with former Yokozuna Kiriazuma and former Ozeki Andonishiki!
Andrasoyama leads all alone in Juryo with six wins. Bolo and Wakudoyama are now the only undefeated players in all three divisions. They are blazing the trail in Makushita.
Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii is going ok on his ozeki run. He needs ten wins and currently has a 5-2 record. He needs five more wins from eight matches.
by Pandaazuma, 2024/9/14

Aki Basho 2024 - Day 2
Welcome all to the Aki tournament!
Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii is on an Ozeki run and needs ten wins to return to the rank. He's off to a perfect start and is the only unbeaten sanyaku player after two days.
The Juryo leaderboard has been whittled down very quickly to four hopefuls. Makushita is still its usual shapeless blob at this early stage.
Good luck to all the players!
