Kagoshima autumn 2022/10/12 13:49
Hi All

This will be a general and open query. Fill free to give any comments and/or suggestions.

I intend to do a trip to Kagoshima during the autumn period, mainly to see the colourful leaves. At the same time, planning to go to Yakushima Island for some hiking or at least to do the Shiratani Unsuikyo hike.

Questions:
When would be a good period to go?
What are the concerns that should be aware of during that period?
Where would be a good place to base in?
If anyone could share a 10days (or so) itinerary, that would be perfect.

Thanks in advance.
Peter

Yakushima's autumn foliage season is from late October to mid-November (especially around November 1st to 10th).
Since there is not much difference in temperature between day and night, it seems that it is rare to see bright red autumn leaves in Shirataniun Suikyou Taikoiwa.

The forests such as Shiratani Unsuikyo, Jomonsugi, and Yakusugi Land have temperatures equivalent to November and December in the Kanto region, so mornings and evenings are cold.
