We discovered a very large Shidare-zakura (Weeping Cherry) today. The tree is with about 10 meters by far the tallest Shidare-zakura that I have seen in Vancouver so far. It is located at the corner of 13th Avenue and Fir Street in front of a residential building.
The flowering season of Vancouver's numerous plum trees is currently peaking. Two great areas to view the flowering plum trees are the Kitsilano/Arbutus area between Arbutus Street, MacDonald Street, Broadway and King Edward Avenue, especially West 22nd Avenue, and the Oakridge/South Vancouver area around Ontario Street and 44th to 54th Avenue.
