2009/11/24 - Research in Nara Prefecture
On research trips, we typically take 200 to 500 photos per day. On particularly picturesque days, the total number of photos can approach or exceed 1000, as experienced on trips such as to the Kanto and Nebuta Festivals, Gunkanjima and to Yakushima.
As a result, only very few photos will every find their way onto pages of japan-guide.com. In fact, I estimate that only about one out of a thousand photos ever gets published. Thanks to the digital age, this unfavorable ratio does not result in any considerable material waste, but I feel bad about all the never published photos, nevertheless, as some of them are quite nice.
Therefore, I decided to use my blog to publish some of the photos that I took during my last two days on a research trip to Nara Prefecture, because most of them would otherwise never be published (and I had a lot of time on my shinkansen ride back home). This is despite the fact that weather and light conditions were not always favorable during the past two days.
