This blog is intended to record some of my travel activities in Japan.
2011/09/27 - Two mountains in central Japan
Below are some highlights from our recent report trip to Mount Norikuradake (3025 meters) and Mount Hakusan (2702 meters) in central Japan.
Mount Norikuradake seen from Norikura Kogen (Norikura Highlands)
A road - one of Japan's highest - leads up 90% of Norikuradake to an elevation of 2700 meters
The road is closed to private cars and only open to buses and taxis
A parking lot and souvenir shops are located at the highest point of the road
Idyllic Norikura Kogen (Norikura Highlands) at the base of Norikuradake

On the way from Norikuradake to Hakusan we passed Shirakawago
From Shirakawago, we drove along the spectacular Hakusan Super Rindo toll road
Winding through the high mountains, the Hakusan Super Rindo is open only from June to early November
Oyadani-no-yu, an outstanding hot spring pool, a 15 minute walk from the Hakusan Super Rindo
On the next day, we climbed Mount Hakusan
