This journal is a log of my travels within Japan. Here you'll find my personal opinions on the places I've been and the things I've seen. Also expect to see the occasional review and editorial. Thanks for reading.

2009/03/24 - Cherry Blossom Report: Kumamoto
Kumamoto Castle
March 24, 2009 - approaching full bloom (50-80%)
One of the top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots of Japan, Kumamoto Castle features about 800 cherry trees around the castle grounds and along its walls, offering many opportunities to take photos. The lower areas of the grounds as well as the parks surrounding the castle are popular spots to hold cherry blossom viewing parties.
Most trees around the castle are nearly at full bloom, and they should fully open by tomorrow.
Suizenji Garden
March 24, 2009 - approaching full bloom (50-80%)
The cherry trees in Suizenji Garden are mostly located along the circular path around the pond and miniature Mount Fuji. There are picnic areas where it is possible to hold cherry blossom viewing parties (hanami), however it is prohibited to leave the path except in these designated areas.
The trees around the garden are nearly at full bloom, and they should fully open within the next day or two.
