March 6, 2015 - Weeping plum blossoms at Yuki Shrine - Mie Prefecture
For anyone passing through Mie Prefecture in the next week or so, hop off the train in Tsu (津市) and visit Yuki Shrine (結城神社) for an incredible display of weeping plum blossoms. The small garden inside the shrine contains 300 carefully sculptured trees with laden with pink and white blossoms of various shades, some trained onto trellises to create a tunnel of blossoms.
The beautifully scented blossoms tend to peak around the first or second week of March.
The shrine can be accessed by catching bus bound for Yonezu (米津) from the east side of Tsu station. The ride to your stop, Yuki Jinja Mae (結城神社前), takes 15 minutes. Entry to the garden is 500 yen.
