At the beginning of every year, a very important celebration takes place in Kyoto's Ebisu Shrine. Ebisu, the god of luck and workers, patron of business and shops is enshrined in the Shrine.
On January 10, in a festival called gToka Ebisu Taisaih thousands of people visit this Shrine to pray and ask for success and prosperity in their jobs and business in the new year.

While there, a shrine maiden performed the Kagura dance . Kagura is the ancient Shinto ritual dance of shamanic origin. Music plays a very important role in the kagura dance. The songs are used as magical devices to summon the gods and as prayers for blessings.

You can receive fukuzasa, or lucky bamboo leaves, and buy good luck charms such as koban coins and sea bream from a fukumusume, or lucky maiden.
The fukumusume serves as a mediator and is able to confer good fortune on behalf of the gods.

If you want to make sure your wishes will come true, go to the back of the shrine and strike the wood plate.

When I do not do it in this way because Ebis is a hearing loss, Ebis does not hear our desire.

So, I tell you how to get to the Ebisu Shrine. We go to the east from the place where, Kamogawa River intersects Shijo street, and pass the Minamiza Kabuki Theater. On the first corner after the Theater, turn right and walk straight for about 450 meters.

Then while you walk, you will find pleasure. At The Tohka Ebisu, there are a large number of food stalls selling Japanese food such as takoyaki, yakisoba, grilled corn, and candy floss. There is the shop too selling the toy which children are pleased with.
The festival, Toka Ebisu Taisai is held from 9 to 11 January. You are very welcome always to visit Kyoto.
