The five-storey pagoda that towers above the streets is commonly known as Yasaka Pagoda and is a local landmark.

It is usually Higashiyama neighborhood full of a large number of environmental visitors, but is quiet in this way in the morning when it snowed.

It is considered one of the three great gates of Kyoto along with the Sam-mon Gate of Chion-in Temple and Mieido-mon Gate of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple.

Minamiza Theater faces the intersection of Kawabata-dori and Shijo-dori streets, and people can reach the stone steps of Yasaka-jinja Shrine by going east on Shijo-dori Street.
