May 1, 2015 - Kanna-machi Koi-no-Bori Festival
In the small town of Kanna up in the mountains of Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture is an annual koi-no-bori matsuri, a festival featuring hundreds of donated carp streamers.
The dogwood flowers were also very beautiful in the area:
The festival is held every year around the Golden Week period (late April to the first week of May). Kanna is not easy to get to. The best way from Tokyo is to go to Kuragano Station on the Takasaki (Ueno-Tokyo) Line, then transfer to the Hachiko Line to Gunma-Fujioka Station. From there, you can get a bus or taxi to the festival. Note it is about an hour up into the mountains.
