Transit in Sendai, is it worth it? 2018/10/4 19:04
Hey, I will be travelling from Hakodate to Tokyo on February next year using shinkansen. On the way there, because the shinkansen will stop in Sendai, I'm interested to visit it but I'm still not sure if it's worth it.

My considerations are:
- I never visited Sendai before and I'm interested to visit it.
- If I directly travel from Hakodate to Tokyo, approximately I'll be arriving in Tokyo in the evening. But if I stop at Sendai, approximately I'll be arriving in around afternoon and have almost 24 hour to get around the city. I'm planning to leave for Tokyo on the next day.
- I only plan to visit Sendai for one night only. Probably I'll just leave my luggage at the station's coin locker and bring my backpack for that day.
- It's winter season (February), I don't know where to visit in Sendai on winter.
- I've visited Tokyo twice before, so I'm fine to reduce one day in Tokyo.

Can someone give me suggestion whether I should make a one-night stop in Sendai or not? If yes, which place(s) should I visit that is worth it to visit on winter. If not, why and do you have another recommendation?

Thanks!

No worth.

If fine weather, you should see the "Snow Monster(iced trees)" at Yamagata Zao.

If you can ride a bike or a bicycle, you should rent a "Snow Scoot(Snow Moto)" and wears.
It does not require special lessons like "skiing" and "snowboarding", and the risk of injury is low.

Although you may want an action camera like GoPro.

Does the schedule match the "Kamakura Festival" in Yokote, Akita?

What do you do in Hokkaido?

There is a video that just got uploaded "24 hr in Sendai 10 things to do" you can watch and decide.
I visited Sendai once, and that was enough.

I'm going to Sapporo for the Sapporo Snow Festival. I will also visit Asahikawa, Otaru, and Hakodate.

Thanks for the info! After watching the video, I see that Matsushima is the main attraction there, but I'm not really sure to visit it on winter though. :/

I would suggest more than one night stay, as Yamadera and Matsushima are close by.
