April 8, 2015 - Iwakuni Castle and Kintai-kyo Bridge - Spring 2015
Iwakuni is a small city in southeastern Yamaguchi Prefecture with most iconic wooden bridge and reconstructed castle situated on mountain top.
Trip to Iwakuni requires tranfer at Hiroshima to local train ( 50 min )
or "KODAMA" shinkasen. ( 15 min )
After leaving Shin-Iwakuni station, I needed still ~30 minutes ride with local bus to reach
Kintai-kyo Bridge.
After crossing Kintai-kyo Bridge, my next target was ropeway station situated at end of Kikko Park.
Short after pleasant walk through Kikko Park i have arrived at lower rope-way station
Rope-way up to mountain top provides nice panoramic view of Kintai-kyo Bridge and river
After short gondola ride and 5 minute walk through forest path, I have reached Iwakuni Castle.
Inside castle keep, visitors could view display of samurai weapons and armors
On my way back to Iwakuni station sky cleared visibly and temperature raised also.
