Echigo Yuzawa over New Year? 2022/9/26 13:38
Hey,

We're looking to do a short and fast trip to Japan because our schedule. I've been playing with the idea of doing one day trip our of Tokyo and was curious about Echigo Yuzawa since skiing seems to be one of those activities that is open on New Years Day. I'm not sure if we would actually ski, since neither of us has ever skied before, but my daughter loved the kid's snow park we visited in Shiga Kogen in February 2020.

Is Echigo Yuzawa a good option for New Years?

I've never been to the Echigo Yuzawa ski resort, but this instructor's information may be helpful.

Even if you are a beginner skier, you will be able to ski a little if you take a course for about 2 to 3 hours.
Every time I went skiing, I took lessons. (because I only skied once or twice a year)
For Echigo Yuzawa, please refer to this.

Ski in the day, Onsen at night - that's the winter life in Yuzawa.

@Ito, that was the plan if we go. My main purpose was looking at somewhere interesting to go where there are onsen and I can get a reservation this late in the game.

@haro1210, Thanks for the links. We've just never skied before. I found a few kid's play areas as well, so if we chicken out we can just sled. I have thought about trying to ski out near where I live as well. I admit my main goal, was an onsen lol I am considering just going to an onsen ryokan as well. The one I love had a night available and I might just go there. I just know most things are closed on 1/1 and want to find something fun to do.

I don't know yet this year, but it seems that fireworks were held on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day last year.
Details will be posted here in November.
