Day hike in Kamikochi on opening day? 2024/3/12 01:56
Hi everyone,

I will be in the area from the 16th to the 18th of April and I was wondering if it's worth, if it's open of course, to do a day hike.

I saw on Kamikochi's page here that I can do a 2-hour hike from Tashiro Bridge to Myojin Bridge (perhaps double if there is no bus to take you back?). Would this be an option?

Is there any reason I should not do it?
In theory, I can also stay overnight, but I don't need it, and not sure how're the conditions overall after the winter.

Thank for the help!

You can check the situation around Kappa Bridge with this live camera.

A round trip from Kappa Bridge to Myojin-ike Pond takes at least two hours. (If you use the left bank)
A wooden road is maintained from Taisho-ike Pond to Kappa Bridge, but not from Kappa Bridge to Myojin-ike Pond.
So for a day trip, I recommend hiking from Taisho-ike Pond (or Tashiro Pond) to Kappa Bridge.
Please get off at the bus stop before the bus terminal.
