Visiting Nara 2012/1/29 18:45
Hello,

We're visiting Kyoto/Nara/Hiroshima/Miyajima during the second week of our 17-night trip.

We were thinking of staying in Miyajima for one night (visiting Hiroshima en route) and Kyoto for four nights. For Nara we were thinking of making a day trip from Kyoto.

However, would you recommend that we step one night in Nara too?

Thank you.

For the average tourist, a daytrip is enough for Nara. But if you are particularly interested in the city and want to see lots of attractions in addition to the main attractions around Nara Park, e.g. Horyuji, Yakushiji, Toshodaiji, the Heijo Palace site, etc., then a second day and overnight stay should be considered.

Personally, I cant get enough of Nara. It is a lovely place to relax for a few days and unwind, so my family is making it our first stop after the airport, for maybe 3 days. You can pretty much walk everywhere, and nearly everything in via the park. If you are dont need to relax though, you'd probably only want a day or so there. you'd have already had the deer at Miyajima so the novelty of them might have worn off.
