Keikyu Railway (京浜急行電鉄, Keihin Kyūkō Dentetsu or short Keikyū) is a private railway company operating in the Greater Tokyo area. It connects Shinagawa Station in central Tokyo with Kawasaki, Yokohama and the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, and is is also one of the companies providing access to Haneda Airport.

Network

Keikyu's network consists of a main line that connects Sengakuji in central Tokyo with Uraga on the Miura Peninsula, and of five branch lines, including the Airport Line to Haneda Airport and the Daishi Line to Kawasaki Daishi. North of Sengakuji, some trains provide through-service into the Asakusa Subway Line and the Keisei Line as far as Narita Airport.

Train categories

Five different service types can be found on the network of Keikyu Railway:

  • Local (普通, futsū or kakueki-teisha)
    Stop at all stations.
  • Express (急行, kyūkō)
    Skip some stations.
  • Limited Express (特急, tokkyū)
    Stop at even fewer stations.
  • Rapid Express (快特, kaitoku)
    Stop only at a handful of major stations.
  • Airport Limited Express (エアポート快特, airport kaitoku)
    Run non-stop from Sengakuji and Shinagawa stations to Haneda Airport.

Fares

Keikyu Railway does not apply any supplemental fees or require seat reservations on any of their trains, allowing passengers to jump on and ride any of its services at any time with just a base fare ticket. IC cards, including Suica and Pasmo, can be used on all Keikyu lines.

Travel passes and discount tickets

  • 1-Day Pass (2000 yen)
    Allows for unlimited use of all Keikyu train lines on one calendar day. For an additional 1000 yen, there is a version that also covers Keikyu buses. The pass requires a Pasmo card and can be purchased at Keikyu stations (excl. Sengakuji) on the day.
  • Yokohama 1-Day Ticket (1150 yen from Shinagawa)
    Includes a round trip from Shinagawa (or other stations) to Yokohama and unlimited rides on selected trains and buses in central Yokohama, including the Minato Mirai Line, Keikyu trains, the Yokohama Subway, and the Bayside Blue and Akaikutsu buses. The ticket can be purchased at Keikyu stations (excl. Sengakuji) on the day.
  • Misaki Maguro Day Trip Ticket (3750-4250 yen from Shinagawa)
    Includes one day of unlimited rides on Keikyu trains between a specified station and Misakiguchi, as well as on Keikyu buses Misakiguchi. Additionally, users receive a tuna meal ticket to be used at selected restaurants in the area, and their choice of a free souvenir or admission to a local attraction. Valid on one calendar day. The cost from Shinagawa is 4250 yen if purchased as paper ticket, but usually costs only 3750 or 3950 yen if purchased in digital form through websites, such as Klook.
