How to get to Kotohira
From Honshu:

All trains from Japan's main island Honshu to Shikoku depart from Okayama and cross the Seto Inland Sea via the Seto-Ohashi Bridge which was completed in 1986.

The hourly departing JR Nampu limited express between Okayama and Kochi stops at Kotohira. The one way trip from Okayama to Kotohira takes about one hour and costs 2960 Yen. By slower, local trains, the trip takes at least 30 minutes more, but costs only 1300 Yen.

From Takamatsu:

By Kotoden Railways, the one way trip from Takamatsu and Kotohira takes about one hour and costs 610 Yen. There are also two or more JR trains between Takamatsu and Kotohira every hour, taking between 30 and 60 minutes and costing 830 Yen for slower local and 2070 Yen for faster limited express trains.
