Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto Castle is by far the city's most popular cherry blossom spot. Nearly a thousand cherry trees are planted across the castle grounds and in the adjacent public parks. Trees are lit up in the evening.

About 150 cherry trees stand in Suizenji Koen, a beautiful Japanese landscape garden with central pond and a grass covered, miniature replica of Mount Fuji. Picnicing is allowed in designated areas of the park.
