How do I purchase train tickets from sapporo JR station to go to Furano? I want to buy reserve ticket. Must I buy early for train departing 10am. Can the ticket machine accept credit cards or cash only?

The ticket machines that allow for seat reservations to be made, accept credit cards, but they are not numerous. How to use trains:
