I'm looking for a small village

any advice about authentic local place to stay out side of Tokyo
Small farm or village we can get to know local Japanese daily life
Home stay or guest house lodge... But can get he local life
The end of dec or big inning of jan ...
Can get there by bus or train.. Few hours ride are oaky

Hmm I'm not local, I just share with you one of the village I visited in Japan 2 years ago, Shirakawago. It looks so magical during winter time, it takes a few hour train ride with transfers from Tokyo. You can spend a night in one of the farmhouse there. Usually people will visit Kanazawa and Takayama also when they come to Shirakawago.
