Japan Rail Pass Decision and Itinerary

Hi all,

I have just finished my itinerary for my Japan trips between 28 Nov - 9 Dec, and I am in dilemma whether to buy or not to buy J-Rail Pass. If you also have any feedback with our routes, I would be interested in hearing them too.

My route will be as follow (some day trips plus changing cities):

28 Nov: Arrive in Tokyo, staying in Shibuya
29 - 30 Nov: Exploring around Tokyo (Akihabara, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, etc)
1 Dec: Nikko Day-trip
2 Dec: Kamakura Day-trip
3 -4 Dec: Fuji Five Lake and stay overnight
4 Dec: Going to Kyoto
5 Dec; Departing Kyoto to Osaka
6 Dec: Day trip to Himeji
7 - 8 Dec: Staying over at Mt. Koya
8 Dec: Hiroshima
9 Dec: Day trip to Miyajima and then later at night fly out back home.

Calculated my projected fare if I buy everything separately (only for day trips and moving around different cities; however, any short trips within City are not accounted for nor airport transfer cost) is about 43,000 Yen.

If I buy 2 weeks J-rail pass, it is about 47,000 Yen. My question is, is it worth it to buy J-rail pass? Also any feedback about my itinerary?

Do not get a 2 week pass, it is not nessesary.

Use a seven day pass on the final seven days of your trip.

Move the trip to Mount Fuji earlier and use one of the Fuji/ 5 lakes passes to get there. You can use the JR Pass to go to Kamakura or Nikko before leaving Tokyo.

Yes I agree with the 7 days Japan Rail Pass on last 7 days.

Also just wondering, on your departure day is in Hiroshima, Osaka or Tokyo?

I will be flying out of Osaka at midnight. So it will be a long train trip I am guessing from Miyajima to Hiroshima to Osaka
