Tateyama Kurobe Alpine hotel before/after 2024/3/29 19:05
Hi there,

We’re planning on visiting in October and atm plan is to travel from Tokyo to Omachi (via Nagano), stay overnight at the Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi and then do the Alpine route in the morning and stay in Tokyo Stay in Kanazawa.

I can’t work out whether the accommodations before and after are ok travel wise and how to get to beginning of the walk and transfer at the end. Are there better places accommodations near the beginning of the route?

I also saw the 5 day visitor pass for \212,000/person but don’t think it’ll be worthwhile for us but again not sure. Should we just book the alpine route and any trains/busses separately?

We’ll be staying 2 nights in Kanazawa followed by 1 night in Shirkawago before traveling to Takayma where we will be staying 2 nights.8

There are no discount pass/ticket suitable for your itinerary, so just buy normal tickets.

From JR Nagano station to Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi.

From Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi to Ogizawa station.

No reservation required. October is an off-season so you don’t need to o worry. You can’t use IC cards or credit cards so prepare some cash in 1000 yen notes and coins.

If you buy the ticket from Nagano to Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi in Alpico Kotsu Nagano office

You might be able to buy the ticket with your credit card.

Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi

I stayed this hotel twice, both for two nights after the Alpine route (and then train to Matsumoto) and liked it very much. This is a renovated/rebranded hotel. The former owner is the Kansai Electric Power which is the owner of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

There are almost nothing around the hotel so you may better book a half board plan including dinner and breakfast. They are usually served as buffet. It has in-door pool, Onsen (in-door and open air) and coin laundry room. There are many types of rooms so you can choose from them.
