jr pass 2024/4/22 18:06
we are planning a trip and want to go from Tokyo -Kyoto 3 nights-Himeji Castle-hiroshima 2 nights-kanazawa 2 nights then back to -tokyo. Would it be better purchasing the JR pass for this. Thank you

Wouldn't pay off.
7 day too short.
14 day more than regular tix.

You'd need a 14-day pass for all that which is not worth it. But you could get regular tickets between Tokyo and Kyoto, plus Kanazawa to Tokyo, and use a JR West All Area Pass for the rest, if you complete it in 7 consecutive days. The regional pass pays off, and in total it comes out way, way cheaper than the full 14-day pass. You can also easily ride Nozomi trains down the Tokaido and Sanyo Lines, which are more convenient and 'faster'. For Kansai, I hope you can take half a day and see Nara Park, and for Himeji, aside from the castle, don't miss the nice Kokoen Garden nearby.

Hi Ken are you saying to buy the JR West All Area Pass to use from Kyoto to Himeji castle to Hiroshima then from Hiroshima to Kanazawa.
We were in Japan in 2018 and have already seen the Nara Park so wanting to see different things this time but will visit the Kokoen gardens

Pass - 26,000

Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima 10,000
Hiroshima to Kanazawa 18,000

Plus all the other little trips within the 7 days.

It pays off nicely.

Hi H,

When you say Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima & Hiroshima to Kanazawa do we just use a Welcome Suica card ?

Thank you
