1st time visit to Hokkaido

Hi there,
I'll going to Hokkaido next month with my spouse and this will be our 1st visit.
We're from S'pore. Please advise what kind of suitable wearing as we're not wish filled the luggage with wrong outfits. Is it advisable to wear only jeans and t-shirt during day time and any other things we need to take note ?
