Hi everyone,
I'll be travelling to Japan for 19 days in October and I am pretty set in most of what I would like to see. Only thing is that I am a little unsure whether I should do Nikko as a day trip in the beginning of my stay or have a 2 night stay at the end. So far my itinerary looks like:
02/10 - Fly into Narita, night in Tokyo 03/10 - Tokyo - full day in Tokyo 04/10 - Kamakura day trip 05/10 - Either Nikko or Hakone day trip 06/10 - Travel to Matsumoto for the day / then to Nagoya in the evening 07/10 to 09/10 - Nagoya / Suzuka F1 10/10 - Hikone in the day / then to Kyoto in the evening. 11/10 to 16/10 - Kyoto including Nara day trip and posslibly time in Osaka 17/10 - Hiroshima 18/10 - Hiroshima / Miyajima / Back to Tokyo in the evening 19/10 - Travel to Nikko early morning or day in Hakone 20/10 - Nikko or day in Tokyo 21/10 - Fly back to Aus in evening.
The other thing that I am wondering, is if I'm rushing things at the end of my trip going from Hiroshima to Tokyo and should be stopping somewhere along the way to break it up. But that would mean I may have to miss out on seeing something.
Any advice is welcome.

Looks like you have way too many day trips. You only have one day in Tokyo. That's too short. Since you're going to Kyoto and Nara, Kamakura would be redundant, IMO.
I'd go to Nikko at the beginning and do last minute shopping in Tokyo at the end. Hakone should be done in a clear day.
