Ryokan in Nara

Hi all,
I am just looking for a nice Ryokan to stay for a couple of nights while I am in Nara. Ideally, it should be close and within walking distance to the Kohfukuji temple. On top of that it would be great to have one with a hotspring onsite that I could use.
This would be for a single person and my budget is 13000 JPY. It would be great if someone has a good idea of where to stay.
Thanks, Patrick!

I am afraid there is no match for your four conditions (single person, hot spring, central Nara and budget). First of all, there are no hot springs in Nara with the exception of some drilled ones by by a few business hotels. But none of the ryokan in town have hot spring waters. Some of them have regular water baths, though, including the Asukaso that even has baths with views of Kofukuji's pagoda. The second big hurdle is the fact that most ryokan in Nara do not offer single plans, but only plans for two or more people. The following ryokan probably comes closest to your conditions, although its baths are not fed by a hot spring. They do accept single travelers, though, and are close to Kofukuji: http://www.japanican.com/hotels/shisetsudetail.aspx?ar=29&sar=290102&r...

Thank you very much for the suggestion, did not know that it is difficult to find in Nara a Ryokan. I also came across the following, anyone an idea if this is any good? http://www.matsumae.co.jp/english/annnai.htmlThe price is 7350 yen for the room alone with bath and "8 tatamis". Would anyone be so kind to explain me what tatamis means? Thanks for your feedback guys, Patrick

My family stayed at Asukasa a few years ago. At that time, the onsen facilities were very good, though the rooms quite expensive. Through a booking stuffup, we had to spend the nsecond night at hotel tenpyo. The rooms there were very cheap, though it is very much a budget hotel and not a true ryokan, I dont know that they serve dinner though brekkie was good. They did have a decent onsen room, it is right across from the pagoda pretty much in the best part of town, and the owners were lovely even though I dont think they could speak a work of english.

The Nara Hakushikaso seems really good at first sight, I will definitely consider this one. So many thanks for this advice!
